Overview
Gary brings 30 years of diverse litigation and advisory experience to his practice at Aprio Legal. He focuses on business, civil, and commercial litigation, representing clients across a wide range of industries. Gary has served as trial counsel, outside general counsel, and special litigation counsel, offering clients both depth of courtroom experience and practical business insight.
Experience
Gary began his career in Wisconsin as an Assistant District Attorney before building a successful practice in civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. He later joined a large Central California firm, where he handled complex litigation involving brand management and protection, breach of contract, class actions, construction, employment, discrimination, professional negligence defense, wage & hour, and wrongful termination. In that role, he represented businesses and employers before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Rights Division of the Department of Workforce Development, and the EEOC. He also served as outside general counsel, advising businesses of all sizes on contracts, regulatory compliance, and litigation strategy.
After relocating to Arizona, Gary practiced at private firms before being appointed Special Litigation Counsel in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. There, he defended state agencies in class action lawsuits and provided legal guidance on legislation, appeals, policy, and administrative matters. He later served as Special Counsel in the Attorney General’s Office, where he advised agencies on complex legal issues and high-stakes litigation.
Gary has authored articles on construction law and was a featured speaker at the National Academy of Forensic Engineers conference on collaboration between attorneys and expert witnesses.
His leadership includes serving as President of the Construction Law Section of a California bar association and as a Board Member for the Boys & Girls Clubs.
