Overview
Julia Acken focuses her practice on labor and employment law, representing both private and public sector clients, with an emphasis on employers. She counsels organizations on compliance, risk management, and workplace disputes, providing practical solutions to complex employment issues.
Julia is also frequently engaged as an objective third-party investigator in sensitive workplace investigations involving employees at all levels, from frontline staff to executives.
Experience
Julia has represented clients in litigation and administrative proceedings involving disability discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes, restrictive covenants, executive compensation matters, and traditional labor claims.
She previously served as in-house counsel for a large international EPC contractor and today acts as external general counsel for small and mid-size employers, drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and providing employee training.
In addition to her employment law practice, Julia represents adoptive parents in adoption and severance proceedings, reflecting her dedication to supporting families and child welfare causes.
